【摘要】:Rockriprapiscomposedofpiecesofnaturalrockthatareplacedonconstructionprojectstominimizetheeffectsoferosion.Theabilityofripraptowithstanddeteriorationfromweatheringaffectsboththeeffectivenessoftheprojectanditscost.Thesodiumsulfateormagnesiumsulfatesoundnesstestisonemethodbywhichtoestimatequalitativelythedurabilityofrockunderweatheringconditions.Note18212;Thequalityofresultsproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingitandsuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting.ReliableresultsdependonmanyfactorsandPracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthem.Theresultsofthistestmethodarenottobeusedasthesolebasisfordeterminationofrockdurability,butrathershouldalwaysbeusedinconjunctionwiththeresultsofothertests.Thistestmethodhasbeenusedtoevaluatemanydifferenttypesofrocks.Therehavebeenoccasionswhentestresultshaveprovideddatathathavenotagreedwiththedurabilityofrockunderactualfieldconditions;samplesyieldingalowsoundnesslosshavedisintegratedinactualusage,andthereversehasbeentrue.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstestproceduresforevaluatingthesoundnessofriprapbytheeffectsofasodiumormagnesiumsulfatesolutiononslabsofrock.1.2ThevaluesstatedineitherSIorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
